Support for Families
At The Gathering Place, we recognize that homelessness impacts entire families—and keeping families together is critical to long-term stability and healing. Through our capital campaign, we are actively working to build a dedicated Family Shelter that will provide a safe, stable environment where families can stay together as they rebuild their lives.
In Scott County alone, more than 200 students—and their families—are experiencing housing instability, often living in hotels or temporarily staying with friends without a place to call home. Our Family Shelter will offer not just a place to stay, but a supportive foundation where families can receive ongoing guidance and resources as they work toward permanent housing.
Because very few shelters in Kentucky are equipped to serve entire families, many are forced to separate—creating additional stress and trauma. Our goal is to change that by providing a space designed specifically for families, featuring private, secure living areas, family-friendly bathroom facilities, and access to essential supports like a community kitchen and on-site services.
At The Gathering Place, we are committed to keeping families together, strengthening stability, and creating a path forward—together.
